instruments used are from the collection of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC. The piano is the "Paderewski" Steinway built in New York in 1892 and used in concert throughout that season by Ignace Jan Paderewski, and the cello is the "Servais" made by Antonio Stradivari in Cremona in 1701.

On this disc, the artists performed these works with such expression that they give rise to a daring and wonderfully different vision of the music.
