The performances of the two sonatas included in this video were filmed in concert in Paris at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in October, 1998 during their year long, worldwide recital tour of the complete cycle of ten Beethoven violin sonatas. This production is separate from the Grammy Award-winning four compact disc release of the cycle that was recorded in concert in Wiesbaden, Germany in August, 1998. The 58-minute film documents Ms. Mutter's musical development and interest in Beethoven, includes discussions between Ms. Mutter and Mr. Orkis about different aspects of several of the violin sonatas, and contains excerpts performed by them in rehearsal and in concert related to these discussions, as well as excerpts of Beethoven sonatas other than "Spring" and "Kreutzer". This film was written and directed by Reiner E. Moritz, RM Associates/Bayerischer Rundfunk.
