With the Castle Trio (Marilyn McDonald, violinist and Kenneth Slowik, cellist) he has played the masterpieces of the trio repertoire, recorded the cycle of Beethoven Trios and has performed with them Beethoven's complete major works for piano and strings. His recording of Brahms' sonatas for piano and cello with Anner Bylsma was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Chamber Music Performance. He performs regularly on the Smithsonian Institution's superb piano collection and other significant historic instruments in Europe and in America.
